Kiwanis Club of South County honors Outstanding Students

The Kiwanis Club of South County recently honored Rachel McCloskey of St. Mark Catholic School and Samantha Gindler of Bernard Middle School as its Outstanding Students of the Month. The two were honored for their outstanding academic performance, community activities and the service and leadership they perform at their schools and in the community. Mehlville Optimists honor Essay Contest winners

Oakville Middle, Washington Middle students honored

The Mehlville Optimist Club recently honored the winners of its 2016 Essay Contest. This year's topic was 'Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction?' The three finalists read their 700- to 800-word essays at an awards ceremony and received a framed certificate, placement medal and a monetary prize. Pictured, from left, are: Essay Contest Chairman Craig Riek; Zach Wells of Oakville Middle School, third place; Alana Crumley of Washington Middle School, second place; and Samantha Ramay of Washington Middle School, first place.
