Blooming Artist mentors make an impression on art students

Exhibition on display through Saturday in Clayton

As part of the 2015 Blooming Artists Project and Exhibition, professional artists served as mentors to local art students and collaborated on projects inspired by each other's art. Above, master artist Kyle Lucks, left, holds up a painting by his partner, Kennerly Elementary fifth-grader Camryn Korte. Most of the 11 art students are from Lindbergh Schools, with one from Oakville High School. The paired artwork is on display through Saturday, July 4, at the Clayton Fine Art Gallery, 21 N. Kennerly teacher fosters summer reading

Every other week during the summer months, Kennerly Elementary School teacher Kris Parm-eley gathers with her exiting kindergarten students and their parents at the Tesson Ferry Branch County Library to read together and help them check out books. After everyone has checked out books and read with their teacher, the group heads to a nearby snow-cone stand or ice-cream shop for a sweet treat together.
