Oakville company's apprentices win first place in national competition

Top-tier Boeing supplier R&S Machining Inc. of Oakville recently had three apprentices capture first place in the National Institute for Metalworking Skills Competition in Louisville, Ky. Matthew Roderick, Patrick McDermott and Peter Prombo-Cates represented the state of Missouri in the challenging competition — the first time company machinists had participated in the event in the company's history. The competition was long and difficult, but these three young men won first place to bring home gold medals to the Show-Me State. The first-place winners from R&S Machining Inc. are recent graduates of Ranken Technical College in St. Louis, holding degrees in precision machining technology. Thirty-four teams from 20 states throughout the nation participated in the competition. Machinists had six hours to model, program, set up, machine and inspect three parts with six different operations on them....more >>
