Musicians selected to All-Suburban bands
December 07, 2005 - The 2005 St. Louis All-Suburban Middle School and High School bands will feature 28 students from the Mehlville School District.
Each student was selected for the honor after a special audition conducted in No-vember.
Sixteen pupils will represent Mehlville at the middle school level:
• Bernard Middle School — Jon Gannon (French horn), Amy Meyer (clarinet), Rocky Locchaas (baritone sax, first chair) and Michael Brandt (trumpet, first chair).
• Buerkle Middle School — Ashley Hofius (alto saxophone) and Andrew Hop-wood (trumpet).
• Oakville Middle School — Eric Briesacher (clarinet), Emily Mehigh (clarinet), Ethan Trimble (French horn) and Jon Carey (tuba).
• Washington Middle School — Nicole Bonsignore (flute), Maureen McCarthy (clarinet), Marsha Wisely (clarinet), Suzie Thomas (alto saxophone, first chair), Curtis Israel (French horn) and Fiona Brickey (percussion).
Mehlville High School had two students selected to the All-Suburban Band — Ben Dickmann (trombone) and Emily Fiasco (flute).
Oakville High School has 10 members on the All-Suburban Band — Greg Elford (battery percussion), Steve Elford (tuba, first chair), Katie Garcia (mallet percussion), Maria Garcia (flute), Stacey Goebel (oboe), David Jaspering (alternate mallet percussion), Jim Madi (French horn), Robert Moushey (alternate tuba), Ryan Repking (trombone, first chair) and Angela Vogt (trumpet).
Besides earning a selection to the St. Louis All-Suburban Band, the musicians now advance to the All-State Band auditions in Columbia.
Elford (principal tuba) and Repking (principal trombone) also were selected to participate in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
