November 30, 2005 - Nathan Yamnitz, a lifeguard and swim instructor at the South County Family YMCA, has been selected winner of the 2005 Joseph Sunnen Youth of the Year Award by the YMCA of Greater St. Louis.
Yamnitz, a senior at DeSmet Jesuit High School, first was selected as the South County Family YMCA's Youth of the Year, then went on to win the highest YMCA youth award presented annually by the entire St. Louis association, according to a YMCA news release.
This award goes to an outstanding high school senior who demonstrates self-confidence, leadership skills and who is active in his YMCA, church, community and school.
Yamnitz presented an extensive portfolio of activities, organizations and clubs in which he is involved.
His parents, Jim and Cindy Yamnitz of south county, are longtime members of the South County Family YMCA. Besides the YMCA Youth of the Year Award, Yamnitz will be awarded a scholarship from Lin-denwood University.
