Junior Panther Wrestling Club to be offered


October 19, 2005 - The Mehlville School District Com-munity Education Department, in partnership with the Mehlville High School wrestling coaches, will offer a Junior Panthers Wrestling Club for children ages 8 to 14.

The purpose of the Junior Panthers Wrestling Club is to give pupils a chance to participate in a fun and exciting Olympic sport that allows all different sizes and ability levels of kids to compete equally, according to a district news release.

Parents interested in registering a child for the Junior Panthers Wrestling Club may do so from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 or Nov. 9 at Mehlville Senior High, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road.

An informational meeting for parents will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in Room 219 at the high school. At the informational meeting, parents will meet the coaches, discuss club rules and learn more about the sport of wrestling.

Practices for the Junior Panthers Wrest-ling Club will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Nov. 15 through Feb. 23.

Club fees are $75 per participant, which includes an AAU card and the entry fee into the Junior Panther Takedown Tournament.

A refundable uniform deposit fee of $35 also will be collected at registration.
