June 22, 2005 - The Kiwanis Club of South County and the Ponderosa Steakhouse at 6516 S. Lindbergh Blvd. are working together to help Feed My People this summer.
The Kiwanis Club and Ponderosa are offering people who patronize the restaurant an opportunity to help those less fortunate by taking an ornament off the Kiwanis "Christmas in July'' Giving Tree and returning the non-perishable food item specified by July 31.
The Kiwanis "Christmas in July'' Giving Tree will be decorated and on display throughout July.
Patrons can take an ornament off the Kiwanis "Christmas in July'' Giving Tree, purchase the food item specified on the ornament, and return it to Ponderosa by July 31 so the Kiwanis Club of South County can deliver it to Feed My People.
Because Feed My People's food pantry usually experiences the "summer blahs,'' the Kiwanis Club and Ponderosa thought that this would be a good way to involve the community's assistance in helping them replenish their stock, according to a news release. Envelopes will be available for those wishing to make a cash donation.
Kiwanis International is a service organization that helps primarily young children ages prenatal to age 5, but also helps all others as well. To learn more about Ki-wanis, visit the club at noon any Wednes-day at the Ponderosa Steakhouse.
