June 08, 2005 - Work is under way on the second phase of safety improvements on the Lindbergh High School campus, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd.
These projects will complete the campus safety improvements identified for Prop-osition 4, a $14.1 million bond issue that was approved by voters in April 2003.
The traffic-safety project began last year and will be completed this summer, ac-cording to a district news release. The first phase of improvements eliminated most traffic-flow problems. Work this summer will address the main safety goal of separating pedestrians and traffic.
During construction, the main entrance to the high school campus will be closed.
Entrances on the east and west side of the campus will remain open.
Safety work under way includes: widening the in/out lanes and the center median at main entrance, creating a left-turn egress lane; straightening the main entrance onto the campus; improving parking lot lighting and replacing light standards that are at the end of their life cycle; and completing the closure of the central corridor to traffic to create a pedestrian commons for students.
