Sh-Boom to kick off Oldies by the River
June 01, 2005 - Sh-Boom kicks off the 2005 Oldies by the River concert series at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the Veterans' Memorial Amp-hitheater at Jefferson Barracks Park.
The gates open at 7 p.m. Classic Cars are welcome; please arrive before 7 p.m. for admission discounts, a news release stated.
Sh-Boom, a Midwest institutition, has been performing together since 1983. The energetic ensemble delights and entertains with all of the popular Rock 'n' Roll old-ies, the release stated.
The next concert in the series will be Ticket to the Beatles Saturday, June 11.
Admission is $8 per person ages 12 and older; children 11 and under are free. Tickets are available at the gate. Low cost concessions, free parking and lawn seating will be available.
Proceeds of the concerts will benefit the Friends of Jefferson Barracks and will be used for improvements in the park.
Offered again this year, a booklet of 10 concert tickets for $65 will be available, the release stated.
Ten packs may be purchased at the ticket gate on any concert night. The tickets also can be used for other concerts at Jefferson Barracks Park.
Concerts accepting the 10-pack tickets are Oldies by the River or Blues on the Mississippi.
The county Department of Parks and Recreation, Friends of Jefferson Barracks and KLOU will sponsor the Oldies by the River 2005 Concert Series.
Besides Sh-Boom and Ticket to the Beatles, this year's performers include: Butch Wax and the Hollywoods, June 18; and Steve Davis as Elvis Live, June 25.
