This is a message to the firemen from the Mehlville district in south county.
I apologize for not doing my research for the last election. I had just received my property increase notification and did not want to pay additional taxes.
The candidates running for directors said they would roll back taxes and save me many dollars. I know now that when someone promises to end a war or save you tax dollars, that you had better check a little further before you waste your vote.
I don't know when you became the en-emy. Just a few years ago you were our heroes.
In the event terrorists take further action, you will once again be called upon to risk your lives to save people like me.
No one told me I was voting for a 30-year-old kid who is already retired. My poor husband had to work his whole life just to make ends meet. I cannot imagine what it is like to take direction from a young man who has not experienced working an eight-hour day, five days a week, and who has had the world handed to him from a silver spoon.
Please forgive those of us who thought of their pocketbooks and not their heroes.
