Area pupils performing in New York City parade

November 24, 2004 - Three south county pupils sang and danced their way right into the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, one of the largest Thanksgiving parades in the country.

Oakville Middle School seventh-grader Natalie Bram, Bierbaum Elementary School fifth-grader Kaitlyn Smith and Kennerly Elementary pupil Emma Gassett will spend Thanksgiving Day in New York City riding on the Tutenstein Float at the Macy's Parade.

The girls were chosen to participate in the parade after sending an audition tape to Camp Broadway. Each girl's audition tape included a solo dance performance, a singing demonstration and a narration about themselves.

The three girls take dance classes at the Gerri Stretz & Yvonne Meyer Professional Dance Center in south county.

They left for New York City last Saturday to attend several rehearsals.

Although they'll be busy preparing for the parade, the girls will enjoy the opportunity to visit many tourist attractions in New York.

The parade is broadcast nationally on NBC television — locally on KSDK-TV, Channel 5.
