Rogers earns state Top 10 listing — twice

Rogers Elementary School once again is on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's annual list of Top 10 performing schools based on the Missouri Assessment Program results.

In fact, Rogers is on two separate lists, according to a May 7 Mehlville School District news release.

On the state's Top 10 list for "Most Improved Schools," released March 4, Rogers earned the No. 1 position in the Grade Three Communication Arts category among elementary schools with 500 or more pupils.

The "Most Improved Schools" list is based on the largest net increase in the combined percentage of pupils scoring Proficient or Advanced levels from 1999 to 2003. Rogers had a 39.2 percent increase during that period.

On the state's Top 10 list for "Highest Performing Schools," Rogers earned the No. 4 position in the Grade Four Mathematics category among elementary schools with 500 or more pupils.

The "Highest Performing Schools'' list is based on sustained performance in placing students in the Proficient or Advanced levels from 1999 to 2003. Rogers averaged a 67.9 percent level of pupils scoring Proficient or Advanced during that time.

Rogers Elementary has now earned two Top 10 list recognitions for four consecutive years. In fact, Rogers has placed on the state's Top 10 list for Grade Four Mathematics for five consecutive years.
