Mehlville School District slates 24th annual Recognition Night


The Mehlville School District will conduct its 24th annual Recognition Night today — April 29.

Retiring staff members, workers reaching milestones in years of service, Elementary Teacher-of-the Year candidates, Secondary Teacher-of-the-Year candidates, Classified Employee-of-the-Year candidates, Distinguished Service Award winners and 10-year volunteers will be honored during the gala at the Royale Orleans banquet center.

Nominated for Elementary Teacher of the Year are Linda Meierhoff (Beasley), Susie Cook (Bierbaum), Sharon Guy (Blades), Margie Schaughnessy (Forder), Debbie Shannon (Hagemann), Carolyn Turpin (Oakville), Jennifer Snider (Point), Doug Holler (Rogers), Jen Ulsas (Trautwein), Martha Meiners-hagen (Wohlwend) and Laura Stindel (Early Childhood).

Nominated for the Secondary Teacher of the Year are Lori Weber (Bernard Middle) Karen Torretta (Margaret Buerkle Middle), Becky Brophy (Oakville Middle), Sue Zub (Washington Middle), Glenn Owens (Mehlville High) and Mitch Eden (Oakville High).

Candidates for Classified Employee of the Year include Dimitria Strong (Beasley), Dragica Dizdarevic (Bierbaum), Tamie Francis (Blades), Kim Nikolaisen (Hagemann), Linda Golobic (Oakville Elementary), Shelly Dopplick (Point), Wayne Auer (Trautwein), Joan O'Neill (Wohlwend), Hal Callum (Bernard Middle), Donna Van Dillen (Oakville Middle), Denice Skyles (Washington), Shirley Ramsey (Mehlville High), Jeanne Cope (Oakville High), Mary Aboussie (Early Childhood), Nelson Sinclair (Transportation) and Carole Martin (Central Office).

The district will present the prestigious Distinguished Service Award to five deserving winners. In addition, eight community members will be recognized for reaching the 10-year mark in volunteer service to the district.

Fifty-five staff members have announced plans to retire at the end of the school year and will receive a token of appreciation from the district at the event. Also, 65 employees will receive years of service pins for reaching the 20-year, 25-year, 30-year and 35-year milestones.
