Mehlville High presents 'Miracle Worker'

Hannah Seckington and Allison Williams will take to the stage as Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan tonight — April 15 — as the Mehlville Drama Department presents the "The Miracle Worker."

Performances were scheduled April 14-17 at the Mehlville High Drama Center, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road.

As a young girl, Helen Keller suffered a sudden illness that left her deaf and blind. "The Miracle Worker" tells the story of how a young teacher, Annie Sullivan, changed Keller's life by working with her to learn to read and eventually awakened one of the great minds of our time, according to a school district news release.

Other Mehlville High cast members in "The Miracle Worker" include Theresa Lochhaas, who plays Kate, Jason Woolem, who plays a doctor, Josh Taggart, who plays Arthur Keller, Julia Weigert, who plays Martha, Tim Stuart, who plays Percy, Amy Hauser, who plays Aunt Ev, Matt Bass, who plays James, Tim Regan, who plays Dr. Anagnos, Bonita Newby, who plays Viney, and Abbey Young, Kristine LePage and Madeline Schmitt, who play blind girls.

Each evening performance begins at 7 p.m. A special afternoon performance for Mehlville School District Gold Card members was scheduled to be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 14.

Tickets are priced at $5 in advance, $6 at the door and $7 for special reserved seats. For more information, contact the Mehlville High Drama Department at 467-6132.
