Lutheran South students excel in contest

Nine Lutheran High School South freshmen recently attended the annual Junior High Math Educators of Greater St. Louis' Math Contest at Florissant Valley Community College. The Lutheran South contestants were Matt Bryan, Beth Horvath, Tim Johnson, Ethan Jost, Courtney Lauer, Jen Rothweiler, Evan Sanft, Caleb Scherer and Jacob Schroeder. The team of Bryan, Johnson, Rothweiler, and Scherer placed third of 11 ninth-grade teams in the Small Schools Division, a record placement for Lutheran South. Scherer also set a school record by individually placing fourth in Division I. Bryan, Sanft and Scherer also placed second in the final round of estimation golf after placing third overall to qualify for the finals.
