Over the past weekend, the wrestling team at Oakville Senior High competed in the Columbia-Hickman Invitational and came away feeling good about the performance, taking fourth place in a field of 12 teams.
"I think it was a very good and strong performance for us," Tigers head coach Tim Vogel told the Call.
The Tigers had four grapplers reach the championship match of their respective weight classes and three wrestlers grabbing third place honors.
Juniors Matt Mitchell (140 pounds) and Ryan Sutton (189 pounds) came away with first-place finishes in their weight classes while seniors
Eric Schmidt (152 pounds) and Nick Wymore (heavyweight) garnered runners-up honors.
Oakville is back in action at 6 p.m. Friday as the Tigers play host to Lindbergh in their final home match of the season.
"Lindbergh is a very tough team," Vogel said. "They're ranked in the top 10 in the state and we match up really good with them. I think it will be a close meet."
