Emily Marie Mahon, an eighth-grade pupil at St. Justin Martyr School, recently was presented a certificate and $75 Patriot Bond by the Citizens Against Pornography as the first-place winner in CAP's annual essay contest.
This year's theme was: "Is the Britney Spears Look in Clothing Degrading to Girls, and Does It Send the Wrong Message to Boys?''
The runner-up was Michelle Kimerlin, an eighth-grade pupil at St. Dominic Savio School. She received a $50 bond. The contest was open to seventh- and eighth-graders in the greater south county area.
CAP is an interfaith community organization endeavoring to educate and alert the public to the problem and danger of pornography and obscenity, according to a news release.
