Farming brings Concord man closer to God

Robert Lightfoot uses a hand cultivator in his garden at 12045 Theiss Road

His garden does more to slow traffic than the 'S' curve his home sits on. Everyone slows down when they drive past. It's not surprising, Robert Lightfoot has been farming for 57 years, 38 of it at Lightfoot Farms on Baumgartner Road in Oakville and now in Murphysboro, Ill.

"I'm just trying to make my garden as pretty as my wife,'' Lightfoot said. "I'll never make it, but I'm getting closer.''
