Breeding elected new president of Crestwood Board of Aldermen

Crestwood Ward 1 Alderman Richard Breeding recently was elected president of the city's Board of Aldermen.

Breeding, who was unopposed in 2001 in his bid for a second, three-year term as alderman, was elected board president last week with a 7-0 vote. Ward 2 Alderman Gary Vincent, the previous board president, was absent.

Ward 3 Alderman Don Maddox made the motion to elect Breeding board president, and Maddox's motion was seconded by Ward 2 Alderman Tim Trueblood.

In other business May 27, the Board of Aldermen voted 7-0 to approve Mayor Jim Robertson's aldermanic appointments to various commissions and boards.

The appointments are:

• Animal Control Board — Trueblood.

• Chamber of Commerce — Ward 4 Alderman Pat Duwe.

• Fire Board — Ward 1 Alderman Richard LaBore.

• Planning and Zoning Commission — Ward 3 Alderman "Bernie'' Alexander.

• Police Board/Neighborhood Watch — Breeding.

• Public Works Board — Maddox.

• Sign Commission — Vincent.

• Tax-Increment Financing Commission — Ward 4 Alderman Tom Fagan.

• Ways and Means Committee — Maddox and Trueblood.

Robertson had named LaBore to the Animal Control Board, but LaBore told the mayor he would be unable to serve on that board.

"There was a memorandum regarding board and commission appointments following the recent election cycle that was included with the package,'' Robertson said before the vote was taken. "Alderman LaBore has informed me that he will not be able to do anything with animal control, but Alderman Trueblood has consented to do that. That's the one change that I am aware of.''
