O'Driscoll's condition upgraded to serious

Physicians have upgraded Mehlville Fire Protection District Board of Directors Chairman Tom O'Driscoll's condition to serious from critical last week, a spokes-man for St. Louis University Hospital said late Monday afternoon.

O'Driscoll was driving a motorcycle through the intersection of Gravois Road and Duke Street about 1:30 p.m. April 27 when an unlicensed male driver in an automobile ran a stop sign and struck the left side of O'Driscoll's motorcycle, ac-cording to the St. Louis Police Depart-ment.

Police April 28 said the driver of the auto was charged with felonious leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.

On Monday afternoon, a spokesman for the St. Louis Police Department declined to release the suspect's name because charges in the case had been "taken under advisement. Sometimes that means they're awaiting further information.''
