Grogan nominated to college honor society

Kevin Grogan, a 2002 graduate of Oak-ville Senior High School, has been nominated for membership in the National So-ciety of Collegiate Scholars, the honor so-ciety for high-achieving first- and second-year students.

The society provides members with access to scholarships, leadership development programs, internships and service activities on a national and chapter level.

Grogan was named to the dean's list at Southwest Missouri State University after achieving a 3.7 grade-point average during his first semester.

He graduated in the top 20 percent of his class from Oakville, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and served as president of the Speech and De-bate Club for two years.

Grogan has a partial academic scholarship to Southwest, where he has achieved sophomore standing. Through dual credit courses at Oakville and area colleges and universities, he received more than 20 college credit hours while still in high school.

Grogan, who is majoring in business-finance, will be inducted into the Honor Society at convocation to be conducted in the fall at the Southwest campus in Spring-field.

He is the son of Bob and Nancy Grogan of Oakville.
