VIDEO: 'American Idol' sensation visits Oakville High School
OHS alum returns to school
April 03, 2013 - Despite an incredible rise to fame while appearing on "American Idol," singing sensation Curtis Finch Junior hasn't forgotten those who helped him along the way.
Finch made a surprise visit yesterday — Wednesday — to Oakville Senior High School. Finch attended OHS and worked on his singing skills while participating in the school choir.
Finch made the top 10 in this season's "American Idol" before being eliminated from the competition, and he will be part of the "Idol" tour that will take place this summer.
"This experience has been epic," he stated in a district news release. "It has been amazingly mind-blowing. I know that so many people won't get this opportunity, so I feel great that I get to be an extension of so many people and so many things."
When asked if being on American Idol has made him feel like a celebrity, Finch responded, "I don't know how to be Hollywood. I just know how to be Curtis. That's why I had to come to Oakville today. This is one of the things that I feel that I represent. I'm just happy to be here and happy to be a vessel and people can look at me and see hope."
