Menning to serve as Crestwood Fire Department chief
November 28, 2012 - The Crestwood Board of Aldermen voted Nov. 13 to name Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Mark Menning as the city's fire chief.
Current Fire Chief and acting City Administrator Karl Kestler is set to retire Jan. 1.
Kestler has been with the Fire Department for more than 35 years.
The board voted unanimously in closed session to name Menning as Kestler's replacement, effective Jan. 2.
Ward 1 Alderman Mimi Duncan's motion to name Menning fire chief was seconded by Ward 2 Alderman Tim Trueblood.
Menning's starting salary as chief will be $82,831. As assistant fire chief/fire marshal, Menning's salary was $75,842.40.
Kestler has served as acting city administrator since March. Former City Administrator Petree Eastman and the city reached a separation agreement in May.
