April 20, 2005 - Local 1889 of the International Association of Fire Fighters is looking for golfers for its 10th annual Benefit Golf Tournament May 9 at Quail Creek Country Club, 6022 Wells Road.
The tournaments have raised more than $50,000 for charities in the metro area throughout the past 10 years, according to a press release from Local 1889 of the Mehlville Fire Protection District.
Benefitting organizations include the Boys' Club of St. Louis, Children's Burn Camp, Feed My People, Lemay Meals on Wheels, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Nurses for Newborns, to name a few. The tournament also benefits prom and graduation celebrations for the three high schools in the Mehlville Fire Protection District — Lindbergh, Mehlville and Oakville.
Registration for the charity golf tournament begins at 8:15 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m.
The cost is $85 per golfer and includes a round of golf, driving-range balls, doughnut-and-coffee breakfast, beer and soda, a box lunch and a sit-down dinner following the round.
The tournament also includes a hole-in-one contest and silent auction, according to the news release.
