November 27, 2013 - McAlister's Deli in south county has contributed nearly $3,800 to a Mehlville School District fund established to help a family devastated by a recent house fire. The Oct. 21 blaze killed 7-year-old Brian Davis, a second-grade student at Bierbaum Elementary School. The boy's 13-year-old sister escaped from the burning home. His grandmother suffered a severe foot injury after jumping from a second-story window. Earlier this month, the deli joined with the district for a day of fundraising, donating 20 percent of its sales for the day to the fund. The money is being used to purchase kitchen supplies, linens and bedding supplies and eventually furniture when the Davis family finds a permanent place to live.
